The Lighthouse Revival Center began in 1996, in a small chapel sporting a hand-drawn sign at the front door that read simply, "Revival Center." The chapel held services every Sunday designed exclusively for the men of the Faith Home Ministry, an 18-month residential discipleship program that began in 1991 for men who were addicted to drugs and alcohol. (The program is still functioning today and now includes discipleship for women!) The vision for LRC came into being when Pastor Hank Furr was touched by the Spirit of God in the revivals of the 1990s, namely the Rodney Howard-Browne revivals in 1996 and the Brownsville Revival in 1998. As a result, revival came to the Lighthouse Gospel Mission & Faith Home, birthing the Lighthouse Revival Center church!
In the beginning, Pastor Furr envisioned a place that would provide a church home for Faith Home Graduates and their families, a safe atmosphere in which they would be accepted, held accountable and used by God to serve in the Body of Christ in order to discover their true gifts, calling and purpose. The Sunday morning services soon extended to Wednesday evenings in 1996, and eventually the Friday Night Glory Service began in 1998. Over the years, the church family grew beyond being exclusive to Faith Home Graduates to members of the community, and the Lighthouse Revival Center quickly outgrew the small chapel in which it had begun.
As a result, the existing facility was built in 2003, with the first service in the new sanctuary being held by Pastor Furr on Wednesday, July 9th of 2003. The church proved to make a lasting impact on the Faith Home Ministry, as Faith Home Graduates became church members and continued to thrive, year after year, providing walking, talking testimonies for generations of students that God's Love is real, and that all things are possible through Christ!
From the start of the church to the present day, the heart of the Lighthouse Revival Center has been to reach the lost, create disciples and empower the Body of Christ to live in the fullness of God that is readily available to all who seek it. We believe in the fire of God, in keeping our passion stirred up for His Presence in times of corporate worship, and in the undiluted teaching of the Word of God. Revival forever changed the way we worship, and our worship continues to deepen in our intimacy with the Holy Spirit. We believe in the Word of Faith, that God's Word is our first and final authority. And we believe that this give of Love, this gift of Life, is available to whosoever will receive it! We pursue the Presence of the Lord with passion, hunger and desire (Psalm 63:8).
